Grow Your Writing Challenge 2013

This is my second year implementing the "Grow Your Writing Challenge." If your not familiar with the idea, here's how it came about...

Last year I visited Children's Author Susanna Leonard Hill's blog and was inspired to create a challenge for 2012. I'm called it the "Grow your Writing Challenge 2012." One of the best ways to learn more about the genres you want to write in is to read as many books can in those genres that you possibly can. That way you can truly begin to understand what works and what doesn't.

In 2012, I read 101 children's books, and can officially announce that it helped my writing immensely. I had a few standout favorites that I reference over and over again. I hope to capture their "essence" in my own writing. I know what's been done recently and where there might be room for more.

But even after reading over 100 children's books, I still haven't even scratched the surface of all the fantastic children's books out there. So I am up for the challenge again. 100 more books in 2013. How about you?

How can I participate?
